in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The way we challenged and developed the conventions is that we decided to change and break away from the orgigianl horrow with the fact the mixed "Urban" genre with "horror". unlike other british black films were there gangs and alot of crime and violence eg; kidulthood, bulletboy, shank and greenstreet.

This film aims to target the same audience and the horror audience for a new genre crossover - "Urban horror". From the very beginning the aim is to challenge 'typical' horror conventions within my trailer by straying away from having Villains that maybe masked or their identity might be concealed. I wanted the horror to come within the individuals that are alien or monsters to their surroundings, so it’s as if there is a thing that is causing disarray within the characters.
My idea of using hand held cameras was simply to make everything seem more realistic for the audience to relate to, the realism of it also creates more suspense because your looking at what only the camera man can see and its as if your looking through their eyes, whilst watching meaning your insight is their view. The hand-held effect was necessary because we didn’t have a lot of equipment steady cams and tracking therefore like other low budget horrors ("Paranormal Activity" and "Blair Witch Project"), the handheld style suited the gritty realism of the urban-horror crossover which helps appeal to the audience.A real media product like 'The Blair Witch Project' was strong influence toward my decisions in this trailer especially the fact that they were students.
And this also helped give ideas for our own trailer
